Card Database Rated, Ranked & Synergized
Every piece in Gambonanza has an associated card. Moving that piece activates it. But some cards define runs and some are filler. The All Gambits Guide shows how specific cards enable key combo chains. See the Tier List for the strongest card-to-Gambit builds.
THE VERDICT
Your deck is only as strong as its weakest 3 cards. A deck with 15 A-tier cards beats a deck with 10 S-tier + 5 C-tier every time. Trim the filler.

Royal Gambit Queen
| Best Synergy | Combo Effect |
|---|---|
| + Checkmate Engine | Strip hand auto-check checkmate in 2 turns |
| + Castle Rush | Generate energy Royal Gambit the key piece |
| + Bishop control | Bishop reveals what’s in hand target the right type |
Only 10h+ players know: Royal Gambit destroys cards based on the CURRENT piece type on the board, not the original. If a piece has been promoted, target the promoted type. Against Queen Gambit boss, target Queen-type cards in Phase 1 and she has NO queen cards for the rest of the fight.
Checkmate Engine Queen
| Best Synergy | Combo Effect |
|---|---|
| + Castle Rush | Generate energy spawn queen Checkmate Engine |
| + Knight+Bishop Combo | Clear defenders queen finishes |
| + Teleport | Reposition queen Checkmate Engine from blind spot |
A-Tier Cards
Castle Rush Rook
Rook moves horizontally/vertically, grants +1 Gambit Energy per piece crossed. Through 3+ pieces = massive energy.
Synergy: + Royal Gambit (energy strip hand)
Synergy: + Checkmate Engine (energy instant check)
Phantom Leap Knight
Knight jumps to any square, captures on landing. Unstoppable assassination tool.
Synergy: + Backstab (double assassination)
Synergy: + King’s Shield (safe jump, no return threat)
Prism Strike Bishop
Bishop captures, then teleports anywhere on same diagonal. Flanking nightmare.
Synergy: + Diagonal Dominion (control capture reposition)
Seige Mode Rook
Rook locks in place, invulnerable 2 turns, then massive damage to adjacent enemy. Defense into offense.
Synergy: + Through the Ranks (after Seige, break through)
B-Tier Cards
| Card | Piece | Why B-Tier |
|---|---|---|
| King’s Gambit | King | +1 defense to adjacent allies. Good, but defensive only |
| Checkmate Protocol | King | Negates check + draws 2. Solid safety, nothing more |
| Gambit Rush | Pawn | Move 2 + draw 1. Good tempo, falls off mid-game |
| Diagonal Dominion | Bishop | Controls crossed squares. Slow but reliable board control |
| Knight’s Tour | Knight | Copy movement to adjacent ally. Needs positioning |
C-Tier / Trap Cards
TRAP ALERT
These cards look decent on paper but actively reduce your win rate. Don’t pick them.
| Card | Why It’s A Trap |
|---|---|
| Pawn Advance | +1 square forward. A card that does what a pawn already does. Waste of a slot. |
| Any “slightly better” card | If it just tweaks a number instead of breaking a rule, it’s not worth the deck slot. |
Phase-Tier Matrix The Big Picture
| Phase | Best Cards | What You Should Be Doing |
|---|---|---|
| Early (Turns 1-4) | Gambit Rush, King’s Gambit, King’s Shield | Survive, build energy, don’t overcommit |
| Mid (Turns 5-10) | Castle Rush, Phantom Leap, Teleport | Establish control, set up combo pieces |
| Late (Turns 11+) | Royal Gambit, Checkmate Engine, Through the Ranks | Execute win condition, close the game |
| Any Phase (Flex) | Prism Strike, Chain Capture, Heal Board | Reactive pick based on what the opponent plays |
Card Count by Tier
| Tier | Cards Confirmed | % of Deck Should Be |
|---|---|---|
| S | 2 | 20-30% |
| A | 4 | 30-40% |
| B | 5 | 20-30% |
| C / Filler | 5+ | 0-10% |

FAQ: Card Strategy Questions
What’s the minimum viable deck size?
15 cards. Everything after 15 is diminishing returns unless it directly enables your win condition. At 15 cards, you see your best cards roughly every 3-4 turns. At 20+, you’re lucky to see them once per fight.
Should I ever skip picking a card?
Yes. If the offered cards don’t improve your deck, take nothing. A 14-card deck where all 14 are A-tier or better outperforms any 18-card deck with filler. Filler is the #1 run killer.
Which piece is the best starting investment?
The Knight. Knight cards (Phantom Leap, Backstab, Knight’s Tour) offer the most versatile positioning options and the fewest counters. Rook cards are close seconds but easier to predict.
How do I counter a Queen-heavy opponent?
Bishop control cards. Bishop reveals what’s in the opponent’s hand then Royal Gambit the Queen-type cards. Without Queen cards, most builds collapse.
